Presidential Address
Dear Friends and Family,
In the heart of Orange County, there stands a university whose future shines as bright as the Southern California sunlight. This campus is embodied by innovation and dedication. Each day commences opportunities for athletic developed inspired by a tradition of excellence and fueled by the promises of forthcoming accolades. It happens, here at the University of California, Irvine.
It happens here, at the Anteater Recreation Center club sports fields. Endurance, strength, and physic are shared here by all athletes. Built upon a foundation of devotion, dedicated teammates on the Ultimate Club team display training that delivers results; a program that I am proud to be a part of.
It happens due to the hard work of inspired coaches, captains, and officers, who spend countless hours running a program that would not exist without their limitless motivation. Their efforts unite passionate teammates who strive for excellence on the field. These Anteaters go the extra mile for a team and community of friends which they call their own.
It happens here on campus, where teammates work together to collaborate academically at one of the top twelve public universities in the nation. Supporting the many other Anteater sports teams at the stadium, on the court, and in the pool, makes our team well known on campus for school pride, electrifying energy, and stunning good looks. Through perseverance and preparation we stay on top of each other, encouraging performance inside the classroom as well as on the field.
It happens here in college, during some of the most formative years of our lives where so many of the characteristics and habits we build will stay with us forever. By being a part of such a club team students learn to be relentless in their pursuit of perfection, pushing each other to improve. These lessons of endurance, struggle, and hard work are gone through together and bond teammates even closer, making the transition from teammate to roommate so common as over half the athletes live with peers from the team.
It happens during the Ultimate Club season, where self-run, self-motivated, and self-officiated teams come together to compete in tournaments across the country. With national hopes this team consistently proves it is competing as an annual regional title contender. Learning a spirit of the game that is unmatched by any other sport, is paramount to the success of every competitive athlete. “Ultimate relies upon a spirit of sportsmanship that places the responsibility for fair play on the player.”
It happens at practice where each member plays a crucial role in promoting the team’s success. By pushing each other to improve and each day extending great lengths, the team consistently grows and prospers. In light of this, the leadership core constantly search for new opportunities for improvement by uncovering new tournaments, using community resources, and incorporating technology to link players, fans, and families.
It happens only with the support of those who invest in this club, who believe in the young men who compete for themselves, for their team, and for their school. Such faith has been the forefront of alumni pride, giving birth to generations of players, and coaches who contribute immensely the continuation of the sport. Networking has proven to be one of the most vital and advantageous characteristics of this support group, providing players opportunities for internships and breeding success.
What happens here is more than just a club sport where athletes’ dreams for championship titles are possible. It isn’t as simple as dozens of players competing for the pride of a city, a state, and a nation with a heart to win every game. This is a family, whose members encourage one another, promote strong and healthy values, and most importantly take pride in what we achieve. Join us. Contribute. Help to build this amazing program into something even better.
